JCC Exercise Classes
Below is a sampling of the numerous and varied exercise programs we offer to our Membership at the JCC.
Led by our energetic and experienced instructors, our classes are simply the best you can find!
Emphasizes complete relaxation, characterized by soft, slow, flowing movements that focus on force and not brute strength.
Aerobic routines designed with easy to follow combinations.
SCULPT & TONE
Resistance exercises to improve muscular endurance, posture and alignment.
30-minutes of INTENSE “CORE” (abdominal & back) strengthening and flexibility training.
The Pilates method of exercise is a series of well-designed stretching movements creating firmer, sleeker and stronger muscles.
A complete exercise class that includes creative step combinations for the total body, abdominal exercises and stretches.
Traditional kickboxing moves are performed to develop cardiovascular fitness, agility, and quickness.
Try the sampler! This class includes a little bit of everything. A fusion of fitness!!
45-minute workout on a stationary indoor bike, with a certified instructor taking you on a journey to push your body to the limit!
Beginners and Intermediate levels are taught with fun and flair at the JCC. Ah, the joy of dancing combined with wonderful workout - perfect!
A class where the only resistance tools you use is your body. Need a challenge…. here you go!
Yoga therapy teaches control of the mind, body and emotions through breathing techniques, stretching, postures and relaxation. Health will be improved by releasing tension and stress while building reserve energy.
SELF DEFENSE – ADULT and TEEN
Shaolin Kempo is a blend of Karate and Kung Fu. Originating from Chinese martial arts. In the classroom the students learn knife and club techniques. Self defense concepts through Shaolin Kempo system. Instructed by Steve and Jeremy Stollman.
For total body strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on core muscles of the back and stomach. Warm up with good posture with balance, then enjoy slow-paced floor/mat work targeting the back and stomach. Finish with relaxation breathing exercises that will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!
STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILTY
Move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and flexibility along with skills to improve activities for daily living (ADL). Hand held weights, elastic tubing and a ball are offered for resistance, and chair is used for seated & standing support.
Challenge yourself with a variety of conditioning exercises to increase strength, coordination, agility and balance. Hand held weights and the Step are used in an interval format, with a chair for seated and standing support.
Enjoy a heart healthy aerobic workout with a chair used for seated or standing support. Basic steps and rhythmic movements for the upper and lower body are designed to give you a safe and fun workout. Resistance tools will be offered for additional muscular conditioning.
This class is designed for the seniors who desire and are ready for an ADVANCED workout, with standing non-impact exercises designed to increase cardiovascular health and muscular endurance.
