Early Childhood

At the JCC, we know that your child’s safety and healthy development is your primary concern. Our philosophy of education and care is guided by the understanding that each child develops and grows at his and her own pace. Our classroom teachers are chosen for their warmth, experience, love of children and commitment to professional growth. Our environment encourages children to explore new skills, respect others and enjoy learning about the world around them. Our teachers respond to each individual child, and facilitate age-appropriate experiences at just the right level for his and her budding growth.

The JCC offers a unique set of facilities, with part-day or full-day program options, that are unmatched in the community. Some of our indoor resources include: natural light and air-conditioning in all classrooms, large-motor play room, full basketball gym, heated pool and many multi-use spaces.  Our facility also boasts three outdoor, age appropriate playgrounds, large athletic fields, and a unique courtyard garden.  Our 3 and 4-year old classes enjoy weekly swim Instruction with Red Cross certified instructors, weeklgym Instruction with certified physical education specialists, as well and music and sign language programs.

Jewish Culture

Jewish culture is a part of every program at the JCC, and our classrooms celebrate the Shabbat, Jewish holidays, and incorporate the ethics and values of our rich heritage in everything we do.  Additional Jewish experiences, such as PJ Library, Fun Pre-Holiday Workshops, and others are available to families as well.  At the JCC, we welcome children and families from every walk of life, and invite all to share in the beauty and values that the Jewish tradition has to offer.

Our core classroom programs are enhanced further by a many age-appropriate classes, group lessons and enrichment opportunities for your child. These include swimming, dance, gymnastics, sports, arts and crafts, library hour, creative play and many others.

Please look over our Program Guide and ECD Brochure, and contact Ellen Winston, ECD Director, at (203) 372-6567, ext. 122, or email her at Ellenwinston@jccs.org.  We invite you to visit our program, tour our entire Center, and learn more about how the JCC can provide your family with the very best Early Childhood program available.
