THE COMMUNITY LIBRARY AT THE JCC
Welcome to The Community Library at the JCC. We are happy you have found your way to our home in Cyberspace, but we also invite you to visit us at our magnificent facility inside the JCC.
Here you will find a circulating library of Jewish literature including books on Jewish ritual and observance, holidays, and life-cycle events. You will also find a collection of Jewish newspapers and magazines in Yiddish and English.
The Library, which is open to the entire community, was made possible by the generosity of an anonymous donor who had the foresight to realize the Jewish community needed a facility where Judaic literature could be made available in a comfortable, accessible, and inviting atmosphere. A place where one could relax with a cup of coffee or tea and read the latest news from Israel, surf the Web, or check out a Judaic book to read at home.
Located on the 3rd floor of the JCC at 4200 Park Avenue, the Community Library offers you:
- 3 computers with highspeed internet access
- A continually expanding multimedia collection for all ages including contemporary fiction, non-fiction, and music cds
- Magazines & newspapers of Jewish interest such as the International Jerusalem Post, Yiddish Forward, Jewish Ledger, Hadassah, Na'Amat woman, and yad vashem
- Book clubs and programs
- A staff committed to excellence
Now that you have found us, we hope you will visit us often. We also invite you to share your reading interests with us by recommending books you would like to see in the library. Just fill out and submit a book request card which we keep on hand in the library. Finally, the library offers a limited number of opportunities for volunteer service. For more information about volunteering, contact the librarian directly.
